Well, if you cant see any leaks outside of the engine, then it must be leaking inside the engine......
How's the condition of the oil ?
You from my neck of the woods.....?

Check the oil filler cap and dipstick for mayo (mix of oil and water)
1988 M3 EvoII, Macau Blue/EvoII trim

Sorry to gate crash, but I had mine pressure tested last week and found no leaks in the system. As mentioned above keep checking your oil filler cap and dip stick for any white mayo substance. Also keep checking you coolant levels too.

Are you filling the header tank to the top? My 2.7 spits water out of the overflow until it is about an 1in below the normal level....

Dose mine have chrome arches' ? Hell no........!!! work of the devil them things......
If its getting hot really quick, that would tend to suggest a pending HGF....
Dose the heater air get hot just as qucik as the engine ?

No worrys, mine currently has no rear arch's of any description !!!!
HGF=Head Gasket Failure.
The only other thing i can think of is if the water pump seal is knackerd.
I had this fault on a 320i. The water was leaking out when the system was under pressure.
Had you looked around the engine when its hot and running ?
How far dose the temp gauge go ?

the gauge goes up to half way then if you give it some it will go to the third line. then if i put heaters on it drops back down to half.not really had a good look wile its running if it is the pump will it come out fast or just drip....

It depends on where it leaks.
If it leaks under pressure, i would expect a little more than a drip.
How much and how often do you top up the water tank.

Once every 2-3 Weeks.........
If it is a daily driver, could be a very small leak, making it hard to find........
only thing i can say is keep an eye on the water pump........and watch the oil.........
It could be that the water is evapourating due to the heat of the engine, with it being a small leak...

I topped up one of mine every week for two years, until one day when it was up on the four post with the engine running and up to temperature, and I caught the water pump in the act! A small, regular drip that stopped as soon as the engine did.

I'm not saying that I think your problem is the waterpump - but it could be!driverstu wrote:THANKYOU WILL TAKE A LOOK TOMORROW.....
Small waterleaks can be difficult to find. Leaking hoseclip under pressure, pinhole in hose (very difficult to find unless you happen to put your hand in the way and feel a very fine jet of superheated water!), leak in the radiator that evaporates almost immediately, and of course, it can be an internal leak into the cylinders and out the exhaust. ( A check on the spark plugs can sometimes identify this one. Water leaking into a cylinder will 'steam clean' the relevant plug).
If its not the hose - mine was leaking internally down the spindle and out through the pulley - oh what fun that was to find - no major drips but it gives a spray pattern inside the wings when its running. M20 water pumps
- wouldnt have been to bad but we'd only done the cam belt two weeks earlier.

If you look at any thread on here discussing cam belt changing, then some knowledgeable zoner will always suggest you change the water pump as well!!big_jof wrote: - wouldnt have been to bad but we'd only done the cam belt two weeks earlier.
