I have recently fitted the an IS engine into my touring, all went really well except i don't seem to be able to bleed the air out of the cooling/heater system.

I can hear it gurgling and the heater keeps going cold, at idle it gets warm again  is there a set method, i am using the bleed screw on the expansion part of the rad, can anyone help please?

Fill the coolant tank right up, pull the top heater pipe off at the bulkhead and let the air out.

Cold and stopped, unless you fancy a trip to A&E tomorrow as well! Although I must confess that I've done it on a partly warmed engine that's just beginning to pressurise the system.

Bimmers seem to be a bugger for bleeding the cooling. I had the same problem when I changed the water pump on my e34 last year. Took me ages to get it fully bled, I had to keep doing it for a couple of days to really sort it, it was as if air was getting stuck in the block and working its way round?

Yes i have, and i can hear the air clicking throgh the heater pipes inside the car, the heater is hot, but the minuite you drive off up the road the heater goes cold again

If you then stop in traffic it gets hot again and you can hear the air lock once again

It's driving me

Tee hose goes to top stub pipe.
