Have you tried laying a ruler across those spots on the pressure plate to check those aren't raised/depressed spots?

I have a M20 pressure plate unused at home if your interested max :) .

It does look as though fluid of some sort has got in and contaminated the friction plate by the ring around the centre of it.

Is it possible there was a blob of grease or something spilled/dropped etc when doing the clutch change ??

Have you tried cleaning the pressure plate marks off with say alcohol, meths etc ??

Sorry...not much help........

they're hot-spots, caused by a lot of friction

hi, yes i tryed cleaning it with meths and thinners but didnt budge, and i put streight edge across flyweel but didnt see any noticable light through.when i put the clutch in i also put new crank seal, and had the flyweel mashined. i can understand if clutch plate and or pressure plate was maybe contaminated on one side but these marks are identical on flyweel too. another question how could i tell the diference between clutch slipping and the compression being very low, and no power?
i think both would give same simptoms eh. :? .

Preasure plate hot spots due to excesive heat fella - you'll find that the clutch plate is shagged now as well.

Best to replace both parts on the rebuil imo.

Neil.
