durability of chrome?

How durable is chrome against heat? does it discolour at all? im thinking of buying a chrome rocker cover but worried about what the heat might do to it!!

It goes blue when it gets hot.

I heard that the chrome will flake off when used as a rocker cover!
Wouldn't go down too well in the engine

Right, dont know if it makes a difference to the above answers already given, but ive just found out that they are crystal beam, polished then galvanic chrome ????
Is this still no good against heat?

There are people who have the whole engine/gearbox done so it can be done.
