Ok guys this will hopefully be solved by some of you experts. Anyway my car was away getting resprayed there and just got it back. However there are some faults now as in the radio wontturn on, the on board computer beside the radio isnt working, the rev counter isnt working and the fuel consumption isnt working either. The oil check light is also on on the other computer but thats no big deal. Can anyone think of whats wrong here and is it simply to do with the battery going flat or some other easy solution?

Scrap! LOL Cant think of anything except what I said earlier on the phone about either a blown fuse or a loose wire somewhere.

Defo scrap
...that or a fuse.
#10 is tacho & econometer & check control.
#12 is radio & speedo.
Easy to check. Easier to replace.

Hmmm ... funny coincidence, but just got mine back from the bodyshop - done a tremendous job on removing a dent and spraying a wing, and I got a few little rust spots on the boot lip fixed at the same time. Can't tell its been done.
But the tacho, fuel usage meter, clock all non-functioning. And when I plipped the keyfob to lock it, the alarm wouldn't set properly (continuous tone).
The guy who did the work says he removed the bootlight whilst working on the boot lid, but never disconnected the battery.
Seems like a fuse, and presumably the alarm won;t set because maybe the boot light is out - haven't been back to the car to check yet.
<Sigh> ... just when everything was sorted ...

Awww blackcabrio I know the feeling. I got the small dent out of the drivers wing and the key scratches out of the paint all over and she was looking sweet and now this happens. I hope its only a fuse but wont get to find out till tomorrow as Im stuck at work for the night. Let me know how you got on with yours. It better not be more complicated than the fuse!

Right well it turned out to be fuse 21 which controls various functions. It was a 7.5 amp fuse which I replaced and it promptly blew. Then stuck in a 10amp fuse which blew as well. I also tried 15amp which solved everything for a while until................... it blew. So ive now got a 25amp fuse in slot 21. The next problem was when the radio was working the electric aerial wouldnt go up. It worked fine before so once again I headed to the fuse box. Number 28 was missing hence the electric aerial problem, or so I thought. Replaced this with the said 30amp fuse and hey presto no aerial. Note this is when the 15amp fuse blew. Could I now be having a problem with the motor or something on the aerial??? I checked out the iring from the back of the head unit and its all fine and the with the fuse in place I thought everything would be sorted. Unfortunately not. As I said the aerial worked fine before thisproblem and now doesnt. Anyone got any ideas???

You could well have melted your loom into a mass of short circuits by now, and your car could well burst into flames. NEVER uprate a fuse beyond it's designed rating.

Fortunately my problem was just the fuse - and a new 7.5amp fixed everything - surprised how many devicses are on that fuse 21 tho'

The bosy shop must've blown it when they put the boot lamp back in - either that or they lied and left the boot open for 4 days with the light on! Anyway, I guess the fuse may have been 13 yrs old so a bit too tired to put up with abuse like that.
Slippy I hope your problem is not too bad, but it sounds a bit more complex. Maybe a trip to the specialist auto electrician is required
