Car was cranking but not starting and no noise from fuel pump, and no sign of fuel getting through! Changed the pump and now can hear it working as it should, but still it wont fire up :x . Could it be the relay aswell thats gone, but then surely i wouldnt be able to hear the pump working :? ? I also took of the fuel line which goes from the filter to the head and no fuel seems to be coming out when trying to strart the engine. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated as im gettin well pi :x ed of with it?

If the pump is running but you are getting no fuel going to the injector rail could the filter be blocked? Also there are 2 pumps I think, one in the tank then a sender pump that actually pressurises the injector rail. the one you hear is the sender pump located just infront of the offside rear arch. Could it also be the intank pump has failed?

Just a few ideas, bit more info about the car might help? I am only assuming its the 318 you had advertised?

i thimk i know what you mean about the sender pump as i saw one in an e30 in a scrapyard, mine however doesnt have one(if this the item in another hole under the passenger side back seat!) i hope its not meant to have one as its run fine without one so far? the car is an 89 318i, havent checked the filter but changed it only a few months ago, however i will check tomorrow. If i can hear the pump does tihs mean its not the relay or electrics?
