Mine wasn't noisy at all with the standard system.

Even at the red line it wasn't particularly raucous.

My exhaust is been a right PITA!

The stainless sebring centre section has about 6" of rusty pipe with 2 perforations, just where the back box meets the centre section! Its out of it's 3 year warranty!

1) Are these exhausts pattern parts?..ie can i go to eurocarparts and get a middle section.

2) should i find an exhaust welder to clip off the bad bit and put a new joining section in between the two stainless boxes...i'm favouring this solution!

Steel exhausts are galvanised to prevent rust, having a bit cut out and a new section welded i will last about 5 mins before starting to rust again.

Bin it and get a replacement, ECP and GSF sell standard pattern exhausts that generally fit very well.

However, if you want a performance stainless item that'll never rust away have a look in the zone shop.

Standard 325i exhausts aren't noisy.

Cheers,

Hi temple8,

my system for my 323i is stainless but the join between the back box and the centre section is rusted. not sure why...maybe there was some corrosive gases blowing...the back box pipes are sound as it the rest of the centre section.

I cant find a new stainless centre section! i could get one made but that = £Â£s

As a temporary fix i'm going to patch it with putty stuff.

The MOT is due soonish so i'll take it in early and see if the guy can do some stainless welding or else find someone to do the job.
