fuel tank need help

I need the dope on the fuel filler pipe for a 320i touring of 1990 E30 vintage. How does it fit into the tank? Mine seems to be leaking around the pipe where it enters the fuel tank. Is there a rubber seal or something? Can the pipe be pulled out and replaced? Any other comments about this problem?

There is a steel stub pipe into the tank that is brazed in place. It is very common for this stub pipe to rust, or the tank itself immediately around the stub pipe.
I did come across a tank once where the damage was confined to the stub pipe, and successfully removed it and brazed another one in place, but there are considerable dangers involved in welding/brazing fuel tanks.

it's a 1990 touring, is that a 63 litre tank? and does it involve removing the prop shaft to replace it?

Your car will have the big tank, but the smaller one will fit as long as you find a two pipe fuel pump to go with it.
You have to remove (or drop down) the rear half of the exhaust, remove the heatshields, undo the prop to diff nuts, and drop down the centre prop bearing to be able to get the tank off.
The filler pipe and the rubber hose between it and the tank can also leak, so check these out first.
