clunking from the front

I have an odd clunking sound. When I turn the wheel when stationary, it doesnt clunk. When moving, it does. Also over some small bumps it will do it. The arms are newish (late last year) and the roll bar is H&R. I thought steering box, but not sure.
Anyone??

Not a steering box as such, steering rack. Have you bounced up and down on the wings to see the flex in the top mounts, they could be failing and binding. Try jacking the car up to remove the weight loading from the wheels and run the steering from side to side. While it's up there have a good poke around and check track rod ends and balljoints etc.
Should be easy to spot

Its got a strut brace... would that matter? I was thinking rod ends as they were a bit abused when changoing arms over.
Its got new top mounts, but I'll have a squiz later!
Cheers

It also feels like its coming from under the pedal area.

I reckon its the track rod end. Mine got abused when i changed my suspension and now i get a clunk over bumps that feels like its coming from under the pedal. There is loads of play in mine so i'll be changing it when i can.

if that won't fix it, try changing the stab link bushing.
do you feel anything coming from the steering wheel? does it click when you're turning fast?

Got new links, although will be ordering M3 links instead.
Clunks when imitating F1 cars warming up tyres if thats what you mean by fast? Or do you mean speed fast? In that case. yes..
Don't want to fork out for new arms again, so will prolly look at changing rod ends.

reasonably fast

if it does click when you're turning, it could be possible that you have a bad steering column.

lastly, i believe that there are reinforcement plates that could be installed on the stab. link. would these help?

i'll try to find a link..

Just an idea. Could it be the ball joint on the control arm? you'd probably feel that through the floor as the arms attach just infront of the foot wells.
