passenger side water ingress 2 dr 318

Hi need some help , had the car a couple of weeks (2 dr saloon) with all the rain noticed passenger side footwell carpet is soaking , it has a maunual sunroos, any ideas as to what I should try , or common causes , before I take up carpet and glove box to try to see where it is coming from , is there a sunroof drin that may run thiw way and be blocked ,,, thanks

on the firewall on passenger side at top is a elephant trunk style drain pipe.unclip it and it has chance to be full of 15yo dust leaves and whatever.its an outlet for rain water from grill under windscreen and when blocked does exactly as you describe.HTH

Elephant's trunk is on the driver's side unfortunately! Behind the glovebox is a large rubber grommet where all the wiring comes down from the fusebox into the interior. This grommet may not be in place properly, or, more seriously, the metal around this grommet is a favourite place for rust to occur.

Elephant's trunk is on the driver's side unfortunately!

The sun roof drains into the sills so if the sill drains are blocked it can leak into the car.

I was getting rainwater ingress in the passenger side and I cleaned the elephant trunk out (it was full from top to bottom) and there seems to be no more water coming in, even with the heavy rain we've had recently. So for what it's worth I agree with cuzz...
