idle speed has always been a problem of mine. it pulsates like a heartbeat varying from .8-1k rpm.
however, just this morning, the moment you start the car, it idles at 3k! Help me! what are the things i should look into? thanks in advance!

Take off the ICV and give it a blast with some carb/brake cleaner. Make sure the vavle inside is moving freely.
This happened when I left my e30 off the road for a couple of months, it just froze up the vavle inside of the ICV.

thanks for the reply!
however, even if i disconnect the plug that connects to the icv the idle does not change. so, i suspect it has nothing to do with my icv.

If its jammed open then removing the plug isn't going to make any difference.

I would check that the throttle cable is returning to the correct stop when pedal is not pressed.
sounds like its sticking

could hav an air leak behind the throttle, e.g. pipe connecting ICV to manifold.

Suspecting it has nothing to do with the ICV and confirming it has nothing to do with the ICV is the difference between fixing it and not fixing it.
