My front brakes have started to squeak, but only when you press the pedal to a certain stage, before and after that point there OK?
Any ideas?
Thanks

It may be that the pads are near the end of their life or that the calipers are in need of a service.
Have you checked the pads and the disc wear for a start? If they are servicable then clean up the calipers and put a light smear of copper grease on the rear of the brake pads and sliders. This should keep it quiet.

Could be that the pads are glazed

Thanks for the replies guys, front pads are recent, and discs have been replaced sometime in there life as they are cross drilled, but will check the condition of them.
Can it only be the problems you guys have outlined then?

Have a look at the discs and you might find that on the outer edge of the disc ( and on the inner part ) there will be a part of the disc the pads don't touch so it rusts. If you then change the pads and they are slightly different in shape this rusty bit then rubs on the pads and starts to squeak/squeal. When I've had this I've removed the discs to chip it off by tapping the edge of the disc with a hammer. Clean-up the the edge of the disc with an abrasive pad so that it doesn't happen again.

OK, have recently noticed my brake lining wear warning light on the dash illuminate now and then when driving around town, I noticed that the light comes on when I turn on the the steering?
Now, pads on the front were replaced before I bought the car, and seem to have plenty of meat on them, rears are a little thin, but not to the point where they should be making noise I don't think.
It's hard to pinpoint where the noise is coming from, but I think it's drivers side front?
Also, they only squeak when there's a bit of heat in them, say after 3 mins driving or so?
Thanks

It sounds like the pad sensor has rubbed through and is earthing out.
I would take the pads out and grease the backs to stop the squeak.

Cheers Ed, after doing what you say, would I need to bleed the brakes?
