any one know what glue? can be used and works well too glue lining material back up without it soaking through the material?????

Nothing will make it look like stock.

You are better off to find a good used one or if you can afford it get a new black one from BMW

wouldn't sticky back tape be better so the liquid glue doesn't soak through? But as Andrew says replacement is the best option as the fabric will have stretched to sag.

You can make it work with a spray glue but you need to have the linning out of the car for it to produce the best results.

If you are going to go that far, you may just fit a better new one.

This could be a really stupid idea but has anyone ever tried ironing it back up as this may make the original glue stick again?

The problem is the thin layer of foam which breaks down and this is what causes all the problems, i would imagine that the heat from an iron would melt the foam.

i think ill try and remove it at the weekend to see if it is salvageable but if not i will give the iron a go!
is it a ball ache to remove? if so anyone got any tips as ive never done this type before!

From your sig im assuming that the headlining in question is on the touring?
Unlike a saloon they are a totally different material & allready fitted to a card like backing (think door cards) and are tricky but aren't that bad of a job to remove.

Ive tried all ways to glue the sagging areas back up before and it just doesnt work!

Best thing for you to do is trawl your scrappies for a breaker with a good headlining and get one that way.

cheers for the info, yes its the touring, will probably just find a better one from a scrappy as the lining started coming down in the back first but now its all the way upto the sunroof and just seems to be going even further
