How much to replace doing it yourself?
And how hard?

approx £120 inc bolts, gaskets, oil and coolant using decent pattern parts dude.
hard ? well if you have a decent set of tools, not a bad job, can be done in a day.
check the head waterways for corrosion though !, if bad get it repaired with weld and skimmed before refitting

Would suggest you have the head pressure tested(for cracks)the place that skims it will carry out the test for you.
