E30 Zone

to all 320i drivers could you tell me what is the point where =the car starts to pull away under the clutch, I am having to use 2500 rpm plus to get close to pulling power, OK I have a convertible which I know is a tad heavier than normal, but should I need to give so much revs just to start moving? I am havinmg th exhaust manifold swapped out next week by a mate, but he does not know anything on this.

Any help from those with knowlege greatly appreciated. As now into my 3rd month of ownership of a e30. A great car from the 80's, when will it acheive that classic status?

Any thing higher than 1000-1500 rpm ro move off and if the clutch bite point is high on the pedal
sounds like the clutch is on its way.

Best way to check at slow speed put into top gear and floor it if engine revs rise and car does not speed
up clutch is on its way

Clutch plate fella - inside the bell housing of the gearbox under the preasure plate.

If you release the clutch slower you should still be able to pull away at a 1000 rpm, any higher and i'd be a bit suspicious about the condition of the brakes and drive train.

Check that the Clutch master - slave have been bled properly
