E30 Zone

i cant figure out why there is water in my footwell everytime it rains, its nothing to do with the heater valve and the drain from the scuttle panel is clear also i cant figure out where its coming from, anyone else had a similar problem???

Saw title and immediately thought of the heater - thats what it was in mine anyhoo. Only leahed when heater was on cold up to about quarter of the way. Sorry cant beof more help...

Hi Check behind/under fuse box for ill fitting gromet.Also I had a gromet in n/s scuttle that was not in place.

i'll tell you where mine came from,very strange,if you unscrew the glovebox there are 2 or 3 studs fixed to the bulkhead,when it rained water was pissing thru 2of those,try a hose pipe test,you have to pull the carpet back but you'll see,to fix it i siliconed round them before refitting glovebox (do this anyway) and i never had a problem after that! cheers

My story: When rains it gets wet at passenger side sometimes a little at drivers side. I've removed elephant hose, checked sunroof drains, checked drains under wipers,coolant level is fine....I don't get it.
I removed the carpet and water flows from glove box down to carpet?
Any ideas?

I just noticed a leak in mine too (bloody bank holiday weather!)

My rear passenger door seal has perished at the top, and I think it's coming in there, and running round the door and onto the floor!

oh what u mean where the side drains run on to the scuttle pannel

I used to have an E30 cab that seemed to have leaks galore (not all from roof) until I took the plunge to get it fixed.

Take it to a decent garage to identify ALL the leaks in one go and get it sorted - it might be a bit costly in one go (depending on num of diff leaks) but worth it in the long run as the labour time when the car is in bits already is less than doing it in several visits.

I use Bartley in Southampton - www.bartleyuk.com - sorted mine no problems.

I have a 325i cab and when I had the carpet out (floor was wet) recently I discovered a rust hole just below the brake master cylinder / servo, someone must have spilt some brake fluid in the past?

only way to be sure you haven't got a rather unpleasant rusty hole in the front bulkhead is to get the carpet pulled up, remove the glovebox and then get your hand up right behind the glovebox and hope your fingers don't find a big rusty hole.

Also get the bonnet open and move the fusebox and check for either a missing rubber grommet where the wiring goes into the car or hopefully not a dirty great big rusty hole
