Calling Fire Extinguisher owners.

Just purchased a Fire Extinguisher.
I believe it was boot mounted in a touring, Is this normal?. Any photo's.
The standard position as far as I know is under the drivers seat. With a bracket that I dont have!.

Are the under seat brackets still available from BM?.

Just like this one on Ebay.

Could someone with said extiguisher post up some quality photo's as the OEM doesn't have any details or diagrams.

Cheers Gareth.

i have an aftermarket one (much much larger) fitted there as the original ones are a bit small.

:D i had 4 of those which i took of a mate who use to buy and scrap bmws for parts e.t.c., must admit the guy on ebay is behonest with th statement " i would not trust it to put out a fire being about 17 years old " hes right cos i opened all 3 bottles to squirt and nothing came out with pressure allthought they were new and full, it did squirt but very low from the nozzle, now im not sure you can get them refilled from BMW as they might have to get them sent away!!, just go down to halfords they have loads of different sizes... i have one that i used to bolt in the front passenger on the side of the center console..., but now am going to route it to the boot,,,,

mine is a halfords job. the holes didn't line up exactly so a but of 1/4" ali plate with 4 holes in sorted that. it's all hidden under the seat bolster anyway so you can't see that it's not factory fitted unless you're a brake pedal!

Does anyone know how much a new original extinguisher costs ?

The bracket on realoem is just the bottle carrier, the curved bracket for the seat (that the bottle carrier bolts to) has been NLA for a long long time.

The curved bracket bolts to the seat base with 4 screws, the bottle carrier then bolts to this with 2 screws.

If you have the seat bracket the new style extinguishers (with new bottle carriers) from BMW fit perfectly.

New extinguishers are about £35, part number 72600000335 Iirc.

Get bidding.

Re PM, Gareth - I don't have a separate spare bracket, sorry! Unless anyone needs an extinguisher?

Gareth, sorry :o: I hadn't seen an extinguisher for a while since I sold my old sport, and forgot about the extra bracket.

Where it was mounted in the boot on the touring was not a standard place for mounting.

Nonsense. They were individually hand-crafted by shareholders and family members.

i have the new e30 set up on my car. you need the old bracket as it is 2 piece. you need the piece that attaches to the seat and the piece that actually holds the extinguisher you dont need as when you buy a new one from bmw it is updated so you have a new holder which attaches to the old bracket which attatches to the seat. the new extinguisher is slightly larger.

the new extinguisher bracket comes in the box with the new extinguisher so no need to ask for a seperate order as they wont find it.but dont order it unless you have the old bracket as you will be :x
