how do i check the fluid level on a switchable auto gearbox and how much should it be topped up
i tried checking the fluid first before starting the car it was a little bit higer than the lower mark
then started the car ran through all gear back to p left engine running then. checked it again and it didnt show any fluid
is it better to check when engine is up to running temp or when stone cold?

Doesn't matter whether it's hot or cold, as long as it's been stopped long enough for all the oil to drain back into the sump.
ok thats kool
so it shouldnt be checked with the engine running and after running through alll the gears?

Run car for 10 miles
Park up on level ground with engine idling
Pull dipstick
If ATF is lower than middle ball top up to between middle and upper ball

I stand corrected! That's exactly how it should be changed. (Now that I've bothered to get up and actually check)boomer wrote:YES!DJ_B4L wrote:so it shouldnt be checked with the engine running and after running through alll the gears?
