head lamp wiper

one of my head lamp wipers stopped working what the problem? any one can you help. cheers

Its probably that the motor has got gunked up - a common problem. There's an article on total BMW that tells you how to go about fixing it but the site doesn't seem to be working at the moment

I did this at the weekend, and althought the motors on my '88 325 were a slightly different design, they now wor perfectly. And it cured the problem where the washers used to spray for ages, cos the washer control switch is in the driver side motor. As the article says "if they're fitted they should work!"

Basically the spindle with the wiper blade on it siezes up in the threaded bush it runs through. It's just a matter of removing the motor from the car, taking the back off, forcing the shaft out, cleaning off the gunge and re-assembling with plenty of grease.
The motor doesn't burn up when seized, because of a positive temp coefficient resistor in series with the motor, which limits the stall current.
