vibration at high speeds

Hello. I have an e30 325i Touring. Recently I had my suspension done by my mechanic. Replaced tierods, rackends, shock mounts, bushings, etc. I even had the aluminum control arm replaced with the regular e30 version while outfitting it with an e30 m3 control arm bushing.

On the way home when I reached 80kph, the car started to wiggle. Turns out I just had to have my front wheels balanced. The wiggling disappeared but whenever I reach 110kph, the car starts to vibrate a little. Help!

1. check basics - tyre pressures, wheel nuts tight
2. did you balance the tyres after the suspension work? if not i would normlly say you should have the car re-aligned and all FOUR wheels balanced - if it still vibrates after that then suspect its either in your head or they have installed something incorrectly

If you feel the vibration through the steering wheel, then it is usually the front of the car at fault (balancing, pressure etc?)

If you feel it in your seat then its a rear set up problem (could include allignment)

This might at least narrow it down for you>

Good luck

PJ.

balancing and alignment first.

What wheels are fitted to the car?

i had this with my 318i.

i bought the car and when it got to 80mph the car wouls shake like hell! 8O thought it was the loose cam but when i changed all the suspension by putting my 325 front legs etc over the vibration stopped. :D

so i would say take it back the the garage and say you have done this VERY wrong. IMO.

I'm using MiM 1800s with Potenzas (55/15s). Will have the rear tires balanced tomorrow. Will keep you guys posted. :)
