Engine cuts out, idle problem??

Just been out for a drive and my car stalls when ever you approach a junction or dip the clutch, its a 2.0 m20.

The car does have a cold start issue with it idling rough but it cuts out now even when its warm which it never used to do before. It was alright last night just starting playing up after i installed my HID kit. Or is that just a coincedence??

Could anyone shed some light please?

When installing the HID kit there's a possibility you put pressure on the air inlet elbow - the big rubber boot that runs from the AFM to the TB?
If its the original boot, it could well have torn, creating a vacuum leak and causing the rough running. You can fix them temporary with insulating tape, but they're only £16 or so from the dealers.

If its not that, could be the idle control valve?

ive checked the air pipes, all is fine no cracks or leaks. Have not yet cleaned out the ICV but could it be this? or would the extra load on the engine from the hids cause the revs to drop to such a low point where the engine cuts out? Saying that it doesnt matter whether the hids are on or off, still happens?

Another thing, theres a misfire at low revs around 1000-1500rpm when throttle is applied could this have an effect on the engine stalling whilst driving?

Have bought new sparkplugs, ht leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap to replace see if it helps.

Whereabouts is the idle adjustment screw to increase the idle speed a touch?

Check the CO on the car, adjusting screw is on the AFM (Air flow meter) might be running rich.

I wouldn't touch that screw if I were you.

AFM?? lol thought it was on the throttle linkage, found it anyway and adjusted it a tad, changed dizzzy cap and rotor arm and is running so much better now, just need to change the plugs

co2 adjustment is on the afm, throttle stop adjustment is on the throttle linkage, neither of which are supposed to be messed with

Glad to hear you sorted without too much hassle :D
