OHC Engine Oil Light Problem

The engine oil light in the overhead check control comes on after I have been driving for about 10 mins.

I have checked the oil level as its fine, nearly full.

Does anyone know what else could cause the light to come on?

The OHC oil check light is for Engine oil level, not oil pressure.

Maybe removed the sensor and soak it in some turps/petrol over 24/48 hours to clean out any gunk.......

Yes, it is - but if I had no pressure then I would have expected the Oil Pressure warning light to be lit.

Also, when I switch the engine off for 10 mins the Check light doesn`t come back on.

The external pipe under the manifold is not for "Oil Return To The Sump"
Its part of the PCV system.

Backs off muttering theres a big hole in the camcase valley with a pipe down to the sump.

There is yes, but its for crankcase gases to vent into the head/cam area, which in turn vent into the intake manifold. The oil return path is on the exhaust side of the head.
