These switches are a bore,if you take it apart and clean it all up it should be fine, I assume the fuse is ok.

It could well be the connector block between the door loom and the car loom. This is located in the door shut and they often go all manky and corode leaving certain electrical items inside the doors dead. I would take this appart and clean it up and keep your fingers crossed!

While we are on leccy windows, the remaining rear passenger one of mine still doesn't work, the motor makes a noise when you hit the switch but the glass just stares un-movingly back at you. Whassapenintherethen?

Get the door card off and see what is happening. The motor may be stuck/buggered etc...Or there may be a problem with the mechanism. Rears can get a bit troublesome due to their lack of use.

There are two relays involved with the windows, but none that would let one side work and not the other.
If the motor and switch are definitely good, then that only leaves SPADGE's door pins and the wire.

Put the meter back in the drawer and use a 12 volt lamp on a couple of pieces of wire!
Meters connected to unloaded circuits give totally false and misleading results.
