My 325 touring squeals (also drop in engine revs) on full lock.
At first thought it was maybe tyre rub, but does it when parked and streering wheel slightly snaches back. Any ideas or pointers.
Thanks

Power steering pump drive belt sounds like it may need tightening to me

Also worth changing the power steering fluid if it has'nt been done for while.

it is not really good to have power steering on full lock, the pressure builds up really high in the hoses and steering box and can lead to leaks or worse, thats why it squeeks, the load on the pump is high and the belt slips casuing the squeel, the engine slowing is due to the excessive load on the belt.
you should never really need to use full lock in normal driving conditions, and if you do for tight turns etc keep it to a minimum.

A change of fluid solved my squeal (for a while)
I agree that using full lock is a bad idea.
Brian, using just a tiny bit less steering should solve the problem (although you might need another shunt)
