hi lads,

Im upgrading my front brakes in my 316i from solid to vented disks so i have to get a set of 318i/325i calipers.

My question is how do i know if I should get a set of Girling 325i calipers or ATE calipers? Or does it matter because im changing the two of the front calipers?
of should i just see what make caliper i have on my 316i and then get the same make caliper but upgraded to the 325i ones?

Thanks for the help guys!

Im not sure it matters as such but iv certainly found the ATE ones easier to work on; think also the ATE ones are used on later cars and girlings on earlier ones?

Not sure but i think both are pretty decent! Just make sure they are 325/318is ones

No real advantage of either make, I find them both easy to work on although you need a 15mm spanner for pad removal on the Girling type and a 7mm allen socket for the ATE type.

Also I had a 1990 320i with ATE brakes all round and now have a 1989 325i touring with ATE rears and Girling fronts

ditto i've had 4 facelift 325's now and 2 have had ate fronts and 2 with girlings, i've found the ate cars to brake better but that maybe just me. 3 of these have been 1988's and one 1989 built
