check the resistance on the back lights as this will be the problem it coould be a s simple as a corroded pin .
Simple description
when lamp blow resistance goes sky high tell computer its broke get my drift!!!
if the resistance is high enough to simulate a a busted light it will tell you so easy way to check is to take the tail lights out and just have a general look around.
Because ALL E30's get condensation in the boot.

That and a little tap on the suspect lights usually works a treat!

You realise that it only takes a brake light malfunction for a fraction of a second to put the LED on, and for it to stay on until the ignition is turned off?
Problem can also be caused by a faulty or maladjusted brake light switch.
