temp / rev counter flicker

Hi , my rev counter and temp gauge have started to flicker randomly sometimes together, sometimes individually the rev counter by upto 500 rpm and the temp between normal and red , also the si lights flicker randomly, but not necessarily at the same time as the others , speedo and fuel seem fine , 320is , f reg, any ideas welcomed ,Rob

dodgy earth is my best answer to that, remove insrument cluster and take a look at the state of affairs back there.

Agree with March - dodgy earth - or could be SI board on it's way out?
Just changed my SI Board as rev counter and temp gauge went weird and all going hunkey dorey now

tonight have studied it further ,and it does seem that the temp flickers as the S I lights flash , therefore indicating that they are linked , never having had any of this apart and the local stealers not having a clue , what do i need to ask for ??, new board ?, batteries ? etc .... part numbers would be great , regards rob

Take the cluster out, split it open and take the SI board out of the front half. Are the batteries AA sized or much shorter?
If they are the AA sized ones, stick the board in the fridge for half an our and then measure the voltage on each battery.
Also there is a small brass nut on the back of the cluster, behind the temp gauge. Tighten this nut.

ive done his tonight

changed batteries

and tweaked the temp nut

temp gauge now works

rev counter and lier-meter still dead

Check fuses 10, 12 and 21
