Changing Locks

Another post in the technical section!!! :o:

My driver's side lock has obviously been changed at some point, as it's a different key from the rest of the car!

It's been being a right bastard to open the past few days, have a little bit of an idea it might be partially to do with the mechanism aswell... BUT, as I'm currently carrying around 2 keys, until I can get my central locking sorted, ( red/black wire trick didn't work! ) it would be nice to swop the barrel's over so the passenger side has the dodgy lock, and I only have to carry the one key!

I've taken the door card off, but it looks like there's SOD all room to mess about with the mechanism, and I don't want to take it all out if I don't have to... :?

Is there an easy way to take the locks out? I presume just the barrel's can be removed and swapped?

(me golf was so easy compared to this!!!)

Remove the single bolt that holds the bottom of the window glass guide and pull the metal outer part down slightly, allowing the felt part to slide inside it. It will unclip just below glass level, and can be swung up and hooked into the winder mechanism.
The lock barrel assembly is held in place by a large rectangular 'C' clip, which unclips forwards. Use a long flat bladed screwdriver through a hole in the inner door skin to flip it off.
Dealer does a lock rebuild kit which you can set to fit any key, or you can play around with the bits from your existing barrel.
Every bit as easy as any Golf!

Took all the door apart this weekend... Actually was really easy! A lot easier than I thought it would be!!

Cheers. :)
