If you want one, they were a more common option on the E28 5 series.

i had a relay in there but thought it was something to do with the central locking and took it out to replace but BMW couldnt trace what it was.
Brain can one actuator cause the whole central locking to fail. I cant even turn the key in the drivers door anymore. Ive change 3-4 central locking modules but no avail.

It's a tall black rekay right? So what does it do exactly - leave the interior lights on a little longer after you get in I assume?SPADGE wrote:There never is one there

It's an ordinary sized black relay, Ratch, and it keeps the interior lights on for seven seconds after you shut the driver's door.Rawhide wrote:It's a tall black rekay right? Hmmm I've got one of those taller relays that R9 / R10 / Rawhide / jonnygargo / Ratch is talking about. Pulled it out a convertible, it was among all the wiring next to the central locking module. It's a hella relay, about twice as tall as a normal relay. Only took it cos it looked unusual, had no idea what it was for.
Would that fit the bill as a potential light delay relay? Or are there any other possibilities?

If it was plugged into the socket next to the locking ECU, then it's a light delay relay.
Now that I've actually taken the trouble to look at one, I agree they are a bit taller than a standard relay.
