Sticky Rev Counter!!!

Well, got a strange one here!! :eek:

Started her up this morning, and on startup noticed the REV needle stick at 1000 RPM. Drove off, and it juddered up to 3,000 and stayed there even when I changed gear! 8O It kept repeating this until the inside of the car was warm. This was first thing this morning, and now it's warmer out, it's not doing it. Seems to stick in cold weather only, so chaps, any ideas?!

The Service Indicator batteries probably need changing, my temp gauge does a similar thing. These gauges are powered by these Ni Cads on the PC behind the instrument cluster... they are recharged by the car when running, so they may be worse when cold first thing in the morning.
They last between 4 and 6 years dependant upon who you talk to... they need soldering, so it's a job that needs a bit of time spending, it's not like changing your Gameboy batteries unfortunately...

Thanks for the tip, was hoping it wasn't going to be that, but guess it had to happen sooner or later :cry:

Will have a look at that! Batteries from the dealer?

And how did you know I had a gameboy?! 8O lol
