i need to change my brake pads and reall y they dont have that much stopping power as id like, so does any one have any replacements that they have noticed a big difference in stopping power?

dozens of options.... i go with ebc drilled grooved discs with ebc redstuff ceramic pads.do the job with no fade.

do you no roughly how much the pads and discs would cost?

Guessing it is a 325i you have?

ATE Power discs/ Greenstuff pads work well for a cheepish option (less than £100)

Also look at changing the fluid if you don't know how old it is etc

and lastly AVOID Black diamond discs at ALL costs lol! (unless you like replacing them frequently)

Slippo.... can supply you with ATE power discs and EBC pads, but will need to check price for you. Will be back to you tomorrow (Weds)

I tried both Greenstuff and Redstuff on my 2.7, and found the Redstuff to work slightly better.

Plain vented discs are fine. The grooved and spotted or any grooved and drilled discs wear out quicker and only give marginal improvement over standard when used in anger.

what sort of driving dod you do as this will govern what pad to use.
Typically high performance pads require a bit of heat before they start working so they don't work as effective as an OEM pad when stone cold.
Many companies claim their own high performance pads work well even from cold so you have to find out from someone who is independant the real stroy to find out what actually works well.
If its for race the choice is easy you can't go past ferrodo.
