Hi,
I've found out that the mechanic who fitted my manifold gasket has cross threaded one of the bolts in the head. What can be done to rectify this cause its pi....ng me off at the moment. I'm going to see him tomorrow to get my money back i can't trust him to do the job as i've had this done twice by him now and it still keeps blowing. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Win

This the exhaust manifold? They have a tendency to go banana shaped with age, this pulls the studs out, usualy at number 1 and 6 cylinders. If this is what has happened, you will need to have the manifold ground flat and helicoil the stud holes.Usualy means removing the head for a specialist to work on it.

Yes, its the exhaust manifold gasket. Someone did mention to me that the manifold may need skimming. Is this expensive to do and where could i get that done?
Thanks

Try the sort of place that rebuilds engines.I had one skimmed for an E28 years ago but cannot remember how much I paid. When the current M20 engined car had this problem I bought a s/hand manifold!Put a steel ruler on the face of the manifold,if it rocks on the middle you have got a warped one.
