Centre console question

The Touring I have just bought has currently got one of those dodgy old pop out cassette holding things next to the handbrake. Does this come out? If so, will it leave a gaping hole or will it just leave a space to put stuff in?
How do you get access to remove it?

If its anything like my 2 then when you remove the cassette box it will leave a hole. To access (if I rember correctly!) there is a screw under the rear ashtray and its got 2 clips at the front.

You can modify the cassette holder into a deep storage tray.
