Hi

My bmw 325i is overheating. So i replaced the thermostat and i bleed out the system. The problem is still there. I have noticed that the fan on the radiator does not come on.

Does anybody know what the problem can be.

Thanks

I think you answered your own question.

Only relevant if the overheating occurs when stopped or moving slowly. If the overheating occurs at "normal" driving speeds then there is another problem.

Air lock, silted rad/ tubes, dodgy replacement stat (use BMW- it DOES happen), hgf...

Check these: does the top hose get hot, as well as the bottom hose when you run the car from cold?
When you refilled with coolant, was the heater on hot?

Some systems can be hard to bleed, I usually fill up to the set level, then force the coolant through by putting a Halfords flexi coolant tube snuggly in the rad filler neck and blowing the coolant through. Best to do this cold...

I await the big puff or blow job jokes...

As ever, BMW already fit all that is needed to do this, on 6 pots, at least!! Pull the overflow pipe back through the hole in the inner wing, put the free end in your mouth, a hand flat across the filler neck, and blow.

Well I never!

It's my old e36 trick to use the flexi pipe...

... damn those Bavarian Boffins!

when he says the fan is not coming on he may mean the electric auxiliary fan, and not the viscous fan, if the viscous fan is not coming on then he does have problems!!

that leccy fan will only come on when the A/C is on or the car is very hot indeed

but as said both fans will only affect startionary situation.

Check your engine mounts.
