Touring rear seat removal - how???????

I know it's been asked fairly recently, but the search on here isn't working properly, so i'd appreciate if someone could help me!!
As above really, how do the rear seat backs come out???
I'm sure it must be quite simple, but i can't work it out from looking at them!!

If you mean the part of the seat your back rests against, flip the seats forward and look at the bottom you'll see 2 metal "strips", 1 at either end of the base, get 2 large screwdrivers or similar and wedge in the strips of metal and pull the seat up, sorry for my dodgy instructions, if you look you'll figure it out!

The search function is and always has worked perfectly. You lot just can't be bothered to work out how.
Do you want to remove the seat back complete, including metal frame, or just the fabric bits?

I assuming he means the whole of the rear seat as he has it up in the for sale section

In that case it's the clips as you say, but the seat moves slightly sideways to release it, not up.
The clips are obvious when you know, but I remember the first time I tried to remove one it took me ages to find them, and, judging by the marks on the metalwork of some others I see, other people can't find them either.

I've looked closely at my 'strips' a few times, but they don't really appear to have any play in them or space to wedge a screwdriver. They just look like they're randomly welded to the long metal channel that runs the width of the car. (Yes, yes, I know that there is NOTHING random about BMWs.)
Are they meant to popped out altogether, or just gently prised to release a catch somewhere?

They are just spring catches. Just have to be sprung out a few mms. at one end.

Anyways, thanks for the replys people, i'll give it another try later if the weather improves slightly!!!
I did just mean the backrest part btw, the rest of it is easy peasy!!

ive just clicked on the link above and got told i was trying to access a restricted area. why is this? im a member so surely i should be able to see what lurks behind the link.

Brian, not trying to be funny or rude, but please see the other thread i linked to in the forum problems section. If it's working ok, then i guess i could use a tutorial (along with a few others who have commented!!).
I can still only ever view the first page of search results - tried it on a few pc's now too!!!
If i'm doing something wrong, i'd love to know what, 'cos i use the search function quite a bit!!

You're asking the wrong person for a tutorial on computer matters! I just muddle along, and get there in the end, but I don't have any trouble with the search function.
I've just done a couple of searches on random subjects and got all the info I wanted and could access every page at will.
If I can do it, then anyone should be able to. E30s, I may be good at. Computers, I'm not!

I'm trying to remove the rear seat uprights, but it's only the foam / material part I wish to remove.

On the subject of 'searching' I get plenty of pages of things relating to it, but If I view one thread then I cant click back again to my original search, I have to start again
Rear seat! I had trouble getting the bottom bit out of a M40 Touring yesterday, I manged to lever it out as It was at the Scrap yard but it didnt come out like my Saloon does
Then because I waned to get to the fuel pump cover... There was a bloody strip going over the top, obviously something to do with the fitment of the rear bench, anyway after all that it wasa single p1ssing feed pump

Grip the bottom corners of the fabric part on the bottom edge and pull hard to release the spring clips, then lift. The edges of the clip are sharp and usually result in large quantities of blood being released, so be careful not to get it on the fabric.
