Goodridge Braided hoses....

I want to change the Brake hoses on the car, I notice that you can get a 4 hose kit and also a 6 hose kit to?

My car is a 1.8 (Hope to get a 2.5 soonish) Early model...

Is there certain fitment for each engine size then?

Cheers Andy

the 4 line kit is for cars without ABS/Discs at the rear

If you have either ABs or discs all round, you need either an ABS 6 line kit or a non ABS 6 line kit.

To be perfectly honest, I found they didn't make any difference really. I had new hard lines throughout and replaced the flexihoses with goodridge ones. Also using ATE Blue brake fluid and powerdiscs. I wouldn't waste the money unless the stock items are quite pricey as the braided hose will probably last a lot longer but in tems of performance, I didn't notice an improvement.

Iv read that in some places but in other places iv heard they vastly impove pedal feel? I agree with what you saying though if they need replacing get some braided ones; thats what i did as my n/s one looked a bit dodgy so i wasnt taking any risks.

Tips on fitting adam?

Yeah... give it to a garage. I had a hell of a job getting the connectors undone that join the flexihose to the hard lines. Because they're under the car, they corrode and are a bugger to get undone. It didn't cost me a lot to get the garage to redo the whole lot of hard lines and fit the braided hoses too.

The problem is, if you attempt it yourself and can't get one of the lines undone, you're stuck with a car without brakes. I had to drive my car to the nearest garage using the engine to brake and also the handbrake. A very scary experience.

Yeah what Adam said about fitting, had to take to a garage on the 325i to get them done

Re the difference in feel, they made a fair difference on the 325i, but then the lines where old, you probably wont notice with new lines.
However thats not the main reason for getting them, braided hoses wont bulge when they get too hot under heavy use like regular lines, so if you're really going for it they can prevent a long pedal

Put it this way, presuming good high quality new fluid and fast road/race pads if you do say 8 100-10mph stops in quick sucession with regular lines you'll still start to get the pedal going to the floor as the lines get too hot and expand. With the braided hoses the pedal was still firm after many more - never got it to go long (though I'm sure its still possible)

These are the ones you need - says its for an m3 but should work with any e30 requiring a 6 line kit (rear discs/abs)
