Hi - looking to pick some Brains if possible ?

Has anyone built a 2.7 with 288/288 Schrick Cam ?
I have read that the 525e Crank doesnt like to rev much past 6200rpm ?
I am looking to build a 2.7 with Schrick 288/288 camshaft, enlarged throttle body and different chip. Has anyone done this or anything similar ?

Any help experiences gladly received ?

Thanks

MM

Hi m8 the 288/288 will idle poorly and may struggle come MOT emission test time due to the overlap

the crank will take 6.5 K , but you're past peak HP and TQ then so no real issues

I'm currntly building 2 2.7 engines for customers, one low comp for a turbo install and the other 10.53:1 CR for NA with cam as you proposed

the mods you've planned are well proven and popular, the chiup and BBTB will help give the overall package the feel you're after, give the cam some thought, if you can live with the idle then go for it, if not go 272/284 or similar

A good aftermarket ECU setup can reduce the poor running conditions with the hotter spec cam, and you'll get the most from all the other investments, might be worth considering, no AFM means superb induction noise, type R style

Thanks for the quick response. The car is not for road use. It is currently being converted to my new race car so the cam and poor idle is to be expected. ( Apologies I should have explained more )

I have also been told that E36 AFM work well with this type of conversion but have no real evidence to say otherwise. Do you have any experiences of these ? if so what AFM is best ?

Thanks in advance

e36 MAF will not work without a piggyback ECU, so thats £900- 1150 ish to add on top, I can do Megasuirt fully standalone Alpha N and all the toys for that, inc wasted spark.

no restriction on the intake at all, perfect from some track action, launch controil built in too dude :thumb:

288/288 it is then, should see 240 HP with that and the right CR and Manifold ( BTB !! )

best AFM is no AMF dude

No offence to Scott, but better to talk to Nigel or Jags @ Bexleymotorworks in Bexley heath, they supplied all the go faster goodies and fitted them

end result was 260HP, but the cost was over £9K inc the Tbs ,MBE, wasted spark and engine build ( its a 2.8 BTW )
