Replacing Convertible roof.

I have just accquired a new roof for my canny (manual roof) from ed325i, for which I am very pleased and can't thank Ed enough!!

I have had a look quickly at how to fit it, searched the forum but not had much luck. I was wondering if anyone has attached a new roof, inc frame themselves?

From my quick look, it seem the rear cards need to be removed to get to the 3rd bolt? Or is there something I am missing/

Any help advice or links to a guide would be useful!!

Thanks!!

Nathan

Yep your right
, both the rear cards need to be removed to get to the 3rd bolt, theres two inthe back (down wards use 3/8 shockets &long extension (13mm IIRC) remeber to remove the shiming from under each bolt and do nt mix them up straight swop a few hrs even first time

Yeah Eds a top guy. Was well envious of his 3.5 conversion. His DIY mounts looked very impressive!!!

dont forget to count the shims before you pull the three fixing bolts out!!! bast bet is take a digital pic first so when you forget later you can refer to the pic.

Yeah fitted it. Dry but not perfect. As it's a new frame, it needed different number of shims to my original one. I need to increase the hight shlightly as the rear left window doesn't close fully and the windows don't quite seal properly, leading to wind noise. That's no problem. The rear sits a bit high too. It has settled slightly and sealed at the back, although I could do with making it lower there. Reckon it's possible to effect the two things I've waffled about there? Ie more shims on middle bolts, less on rear?

me thinks tinkering with the adjustments could take a day to get right..... Unless anyone has a tried and tested method...

Also, any advice on where to place shims or any good tips would be great!!

I also need to laterally move the roof right a little, to allow the rear windows to go up and down more smoothly, is this done through the 3 bolts or is there something on the frame I can adjust to do this??

Ed, if you could send me those shims, I'd be grateful.

Thanks guys, reckon I'll be a dab hand by the time I get it right!!
