Wet carpet

Hello all

I have a stupid scenario with my carpet - the master clutch cylinder split a while back and p*ssed clutch fluid onto the carpet under the pedals. Having got this fixed, I then used loads of carpet cleaner to remove the said mess.

Only now, instead of carpet that's wet with clutch fluid, it's wet with carpet cleaner. It's been like that now for the last 2 months and just hasn't dried out. It's like there's a reservoir under the carpet or something. Grrr.

No amount of dabbing or drying with hairdryer has removed the wetness. I'm currently reduced to driving with a rubber mat under the pedals.

What's the best way to remove this section of carpet to get it cleaned or dried out? Or is this something that a professional valet could take care of?

Cheers

Ben

I'd suggest taking the drivers' seat out, removing the kick trim / panel & just lifting the carpet enough to get something inside to soak up the fluid/cleaner that will be underneath.

Then allow air to circulate for a while to dry the foam backing on the carpet.

Standard E30 carpet IS a resevoir. It can hold an amazing amount of water!
Chris-Ws advice will work, or get stuck in and remove the carpet completely, and hang it up to dry.
Cut around the small piece of carpet under the heater box with a sharp craft knife, as it won't go back in again afterwards, but mind the wiring underneath.
