Hi

can anyone tell me what the noise coming from my engine is?

Its making a groaning\rattling noise which only occurs between 2500 to 4500 revs.

The engine is not down on power and it pulls cleanly in all gears.

Any ideas.

Also if this question has come up before i apologise i've just joined the forum!

Thanks

doesn't sound too healthy, are you sure its the engine and not something bolted to it such as the power steering pump?

Is it a raspy sound?? if so then chain tensioners and guides - replace these and all should go quiet - if a high miler change the chain and water pump while your at it as it sounds like by the extent of the noise it needs it...

Also been told to recommend an E36 Tensioner (i believe these fit and are better than the E30 type)

ABOVE JOB NOT CHEAP THOUGH!!
