Roof tear?-UPDATE-roof fixed but still water in boot!!

hi
i have a water in the boot (left hand side, where the jack goes), i had some time today and decided to do a little experiment to see where the leak is coming from. I researched the topic and found some possible causes, 1) rear light cluster, 2) drain plug , 3) roof drain holes.
My car is a baur so the info on leaks is a bit low.
i made sure that the boot was dry, and sparyed the rear light cluster with a hose for a minute, checked the boot and no water

Srayed the roof and the rear quater window and the boot drain channels etc . checked boot and there was WATER!!

i traced the water and it seemed to be coming from the top where the roof meets the rear quater panel, turns out there is a 10mm rear in the fabric and the water is getting through there and pooling up then dripping down.
NOW after that big intro my question: how do you repair a tear in a cabrio,do you use tape, silcone, bubble gum??

Strip of old jeans on the inside with some waterproof glue. Then use sealer on the top ... Fabsil, Renovo, Autoglym, tent proofer or the BMW stuff.

Strip of old jeans on the inside with some waterproof glue
he he he I am sure that was one of my ideas

....but as a quick fix it lasted 6 months!!! not too waterproof though

but not a problem round these parts.
a pro job will use a plastic tape glued inside, and a strip of roof fabric glued on the outside....

try silicone sealant smeared with finger on both underside and top of tear when the roof is not under tension and have a look at this thread (page2) it might be of help

hi guys thanks for the advice, i tried the jeans and silicone last night, weather man said it is gonna rain heavily tonight, so it will be a good test for the "repair". I also found a odd hole in the rear well, so i sealed that up, holding thumbs this works.

I replaced my old top with a top that was off a parts car I bought at the auction. When the car was delived, the fork lift operator scraped the top of the roof causing a few smal tears. Since it had a back window, and mine didn't, I decided to use it anyway. I tore off small sections of the inside fabric off my old top, and glued them in place using an epoxy. Has never leaked and going on three months.....

Hi Guys
OK, i drove in the rain today and i kept looking back at my patch job, (it was looking good). Stopped car, got out and checked boot, and there was water there

. i took a step back and thought what i had done wrong, the first thing was that i blocked a hole that might have been a drain hole. So i got down and took off the sealent "unclogged" the drain hole water drained out.
BUT now i am back to the original problem.
my best guess is that it is coming from the top some where and pooling at the bottom.
She is a Baur soooo any ideas?
