Hi. May seem like a silly question but i'm about to do a head gasket on my 1986 325i. Do i need to get new head bolts? Are they stretch bolts?

allways best to put new ones in, prior to that clean out the threads

They are torx stretch bolts. If the originals are hex headed bolts, they should have been replaced years ago.

i pulled the head off couple months ago on my 1983 320i and i found that the original bolts were still on, and i used the same again, but you should always use new ones Torx and you d not need to retighten them after the car is hot
