E30 Zone

My front drivers door (touring) sits too far forward and is fouling the wing when it opens (only a very slight graze - enough to rub the paint)
What's the scope of adjustment on the doors? It's not a Renault 'doors off and sledge hammer' effort is it?

It's usually the wing too far back, rather than the door too far forward.

wings still factory originals, no signs of damage, still original sealant around A pillar base.
Door definately too far forward because the panel gap between the front and rear doors is too big.

IIRC, there's some adjustment where the hinges bolt on the doors. Course adjustment is by means of a large hammer with the doors removed.

There's quite a large amount of adjustment in the doors via the four 13mm nuts holding the door.

Certainly enough to completey eradicate panel gap at either end of the door.

Must add - support to the door when you undo it, as the front bottom corner has a habit of spearing into the bodyshell!

Does it sit flush with the wing when closed ?
If it stands proude then you could try just removing one of the shim's from behind the hinge (if its got any) but i bet once you start messing with it, it won't sound the same as the passenger door when you close it.

It will if you adjust the catch to suit!
