Tool for doin bushes?

Seeing as im gonna be doin this soon hopefully.. is there a tool that can be worth its weight in gold in changing the bushes on a car? I've done a few cars before and its normally been a mare! (i just replaced the whole arms on my GSi lol)
Where can i get one from and how much Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£ are we talkin?

A recent TBMW article on changing the rear bushes on an E36 used this tool; the article header was something like "improve your sloppy handling for Ԛ£20 and a few hours work" - at the bottom there was a list of stuff to buy:
Bushes Ԛ£20 each
Tool Ԛ£198!!!!
Laugh? not really... need to do this myself, but it's a bitch without the proper tool.
Specialists is the best option, methinks.

I know that bexley motor works charges Ԛ£150 inc bushes to change the ones on the rear subframe,are these the ones your talking about?

Hi i think its about time we all got together and purchased some of these special tools if there were say 10 of us we we could post them to each other when we needed them i know there is is a lot of trust here but thats what we are all about on this forum helping each other i would like your veiws on this J

Sounds like a great idea,i was thinking of trying to find somewhere that might hire the more specialist tools out,but buying our own sounds pretty good,count me in mate

just burn it with a blow torch and melt it!
or if u get a long threaded rod... and some nuts with a few extra bits of metal to hold the bush welded on its easy peasy!

I usually end up cutting/hacksawing them out..

is it easy to push the new ones in?
or do u need a press of some sort (drop dads alpina B10 on it-lol)

I pressed mine in most of the way using a vice and some sockets.Took the beam to a small garage up the road,and he pushed them in the last 5-10mm on there press.Only took 2mins each one and no charge!cant get much cheaper than that!I used blow lamp to get them out,then hacksawed out the sleeve.Actually surprised how well it went,but maybe i was just lucky?

I bought the tool for my Touring from Eurocar Parts. Cant remember how much it was, but probably IRO Ԛ£150. Got the bushes as well. Only thing I didn't do was fit the blighters. Dooh. Perhaps when I get the car back to the UK I'll do them.

still Ԛ£150 is as much as the bushes themselves!! If it was like Ԛ£50 or so mebbe!! Wonder why its so expensive?!!
