Does anyone ever use that switch?
Any ideas for alternative uses if I was to remove it?

I wouldnt bridge them permanatly. These are ment to trip if excess force is used to close the windows, i.e someones head or arm gets in the way.
Aint tested the theory yet but if anyone wants to lend me their head or arm for a few mins i will be happy to try it out

The only use I can think for it stops the kids opening their windows and throwing toys out!! VERY handy!

as alan says its a thermal trip switch, if your window jams it will trip before your window motor burns out, and these little switches are a damn site cheaper then a new motor or even worse a burnt out loom or electrical fire. tuck it away if it bothers you, sun roof cars will have the same but i advise against shorting them out. (they are handy for sunroof cars in extream cold where the roof can freeze and if you accidentally open the roof if can knacker all the mechanism, trip the switch and not an issue.

If it goes up when you switch the radio on when the ignition is at stage 1,2 or 3 then it works. If it doesn't go up, then its not working!

my one is always up, the motor was giving up the ghost a couple of years ago (kept getting stuck on the way down or up), so i made it go up and unplugged the motor. Its just one of those things i will fix in a couple of years

. Radio still works fine.

this arial mod makes a big difference to us cabby drivers, you can lower your ariel when on the move so get rid of the noise. some stereos these days are clever and will only send the ariel up if you are on radio, but some send it up when ever its on i.e CD etc, for those route the signal wire (normally blue or grey) though the contacts on your switch so you can decide whether to put up the arial once the radio is on. i also did the same with my sub-woofer, when you drive into a car park i turn it off before i am in earshot (about 4km away

) so not to draw attention to the bass set up in my boot.
