Yes they put 1.8 M40's in them. And, erm, its a 316i, it wont pull much at over 5k and wont do much over 105 i shouldnt think. My 318i max's at about 115 and stops pulling at about 6k.

Mate what were you expecting? Id be happy with 105 from a 20 year old 316!

If you want world beating performance im afraid you picked the wrong car :(

I've had my 316i just short of 115 mph in the past. It could be the cam on its way out if your car also suffers from some of these symptoms mentioned in this link :-http://www.bmwe30.net/cgi-bin/datacgi/d ... Section=08

Hmm, they barely do that new! Was it down hill or is your speedo over reading?! 105mph is fine for a healthy e30 316i.

Could be the rev-limiter built into the rotor arm in the distributor (on the older 320i, it's just a spring-loaded switch in the rotor arm, which operates under centrifugal action to short out the sparks at around 6,000 rpm: if the spring's worn, it'll cut the revs at a lower rpm. I naughtily removed the rev-limiter switch on mine to allow exploration into the red-line range :)

in my 316 i had 117mph on the clock on the way back from london just before a car pulled out in front of me so i could go any faster it felt like it could go a little more faster. and ive got standard bottle tops
