After some help people?

Ive got a warning light flashing on and off on my dash! It looks like this (0) ! And its next 2 the parking light. "Yes i know my drawing is pants"! My question is - Does this light come on for just one fault, is it for a type of fault - ie somethng to do with steering/brakes, or is it a general fault light? How can i determine what the problem is?????

Thanks[/i]

that is your brake pad wear indicator.

check your brake pads and wear sensor.

i've heard on here that this can be a dry joint on a resistor on the back of the instrument cluster... try searing for resistor and brianmoooore and it should find waht you need.

Did you do the pad change?

often garages like to not bother with the sensor and just join the wire up.

its a finite circut once broken the light should stay on all the time. (thats what the sensor does, it rubs against the pad untill it breaks-warning for a pad change)

your fault is probably the wire somewhere slightly broken. look under the passenger front wheel, should be able to follow the wire from the brake caliper to under the bonnet.

should find a slight break somwhere

A common one is that the pad sensor cable is not routed properly from the caliper, and rubs through on the inside of the wheel rim.

Assuming the sensor was fitted and connected, your pads must have worn very unevenly. Must be something wrong with the caliper slides.

he's (dan) just taken it out for a test. the brakes have been squeeling when braking for a little while, i thought it was just the pads needed doing as sounds like metal on metal, yet if they were changed just 3 months ago this wouldn't make sense would it??

hmmn.
