instrument lights gone out

i blew a fuse while messing with the radio it was loose and needed sorting , the computer and radio died ,i replaced the fuse all ok until driving home tonight
i have no instrument lights (no back light) and computer goes dull as if the lights are on , have checked all fuses all ok also the computer is in klms not miles ,is there a inline fuse somewhere
any ideas ???
instruments all work ie fuel temp economy needle etc

could be the dimmer switch. could be fried!

Part of the main light switch.
Pull out the rar ashtray, and pull out the little bulb that lights it, complete with its holder.
There is a grey/red and a brown/white wire to it.
Switch the sidelights on, and, with a piece of wire, connect the brown/white to a good car body earth. If this brings the panel lights on, then you have fried your dimmer switch.

thanks for all the help have confirmed its the dimmer unit at fault so i just need a replacement now ...

it was the dinner switch got one on ebay for 99p
