E30 Zone

I just spent yesterday evening fitting an electric window loom into a 320i Touring and all now works very well except for the nearside electric miror.

The drivers side works as it should but when you switch to the passenger side it just clicks.

I expect that it could be corroded pins in the door socket but would appreciate any other ideas as to what the cause of this might be.

If anybody knows the pin layout of the door connector socket, the colours of the wires I need to trace, or how to go about it that would be great,

I don't want to refit the carpet until I have everything working 100%

If its clicking then you have power to it, so i'd say its mechanical rather than electrical.

Problem solved:

I messed about with it over lunchtime and go to the bottom of it.

On the nearside door post connector the pin for the blue/black connection had corroded so badly that it had broken off.

The pins for the other 2 wires blue/white and black/white were fine.

I just soldered in a wire on either end passing through the hole in the door post connector. I must have a go at salvaging some pins from the old loom that I just removed.

It will always be the blue/black wire that is responsible for a clicking but otherwise non moving mirror, as this wire is live all the time the ignition is on, and corrodes by electrolytic action.
The wire goes through both door pillars, but is not in the same position each side.
The clicking sound is from the electric clutch that switches between up/down movement and sideways movement.
