Hello,

Timing belt is the next job to do on the Touring. Got all the parts including the camshaft oil seal and o-ring, just in case they need replacing while I am in there.

Question is - how easy is the oil seal to do? Is the camshaft pulley keyed so that it can only go on one way? Or should I just leave it be (as an amateur mechanic) - don't want to be moving the cam around really.

Any advice much appreciated.

Its easy although I did mine when I was putting the cam etc in to a new head. It can probably be done with the head still on the car but would just be a little trickier getting the old one out and the new one pressed in.
The cam has a key which keeps it all in the correct position and there are clear markers on the cam cover and bottom pulley cover so you cant really go wrong when putting it all back together.
Just make sure you turn the engine over by hand before starting it once you've fitted the new belt to make sure nothing is touching inside the engine.
